Mushroom Cultivation as a Farm Enterprise

CCE-Delaware, Otsego-Schoharie and Chenango Counties host this program on shiitake mushroom cultivation on April 12 at Camp Shankitunk, Delhi. Learn from research conducted with 23 farmers around the Northeast on costs and potential profits of log-grown shiitake cultivation. Join extension educator Steve Gabriel for the basics of commercial cultivation (100-2000 logs) including tree selection, log inoculation, maintenance, harvesting and marketing. Cost is $15 per farm and includes an inoculated log to take home and a free color primer on best management practices. This program will be held outdoors so dress for the weather. Bring a bag lunch.
