Farm Workshop: Growing Strawberries

Saturday, June 21, 2014
10:00 to 11:30

506 County Route 75, Greenville NY 12083

In this workshop Farmer Eric will cover the basics of growing strawberries in the home
garden. While strawberries are not difficult to grow, they are different from other common
garden plants and thus can be tricky for the new grower. When grown using organic
methods, strawberry cultivation is a 2-3 year cycle that involves some planning and care.

Workshop will cover: varieties and sources for plants; planting schedules and techniques;
organic management practices, with an emphasis on weed management; harvest and
post-harvest handling. Much of the workshop will be in the field to observe, handle and
taste our current strawberry patches up close!

Please wear closed-toed shoes or boots and bring a full water bottle for your own use. Class
will meet in the red barn behind the farmhouse 5 minutes prior to start time.

Cost: $12 per person/ $5 CSA Members. Register through our Website:
